Torrey Pines High School is excited to announce the addition of new coaching staff, Mladen Duvnjak and Karlo Krmek.
Most recently, Mladen has served as a coach with local club La Jolla United, after stints with the Serbian National Team. Coach Mladen has dedicated his life to working with children, both as a physical education teacher and as a personal trainer for strength and conditioning. A tenured water polo athlete from Serbia, Mladen has authored two academic publications:
Mladen is an innovative, high-energy coach experienced in cultivating hardworking and focused athletes, with an emphasis on perseverance, commitment, and dedication. He excels at teaching the values of teamwork, commitment, discipline, respect, accountability, and motivation required to achieve the highest levels of success. Coach Mladen is a 5 time Olympic distance triathlon champion and has successfully completed 206 Olympic distance triathlons. His life motto is – “It’s not about how badly you want it; it’s about how hard you’re willing to work”. Karlo Krmek is joining Coach Mladen on deck. Coach Karlo is a "super-senior" at UCSD, finishing a degree in international business. Originally from Dubrovnik, Croatia, Coach Karlo has amassed a stack of records and achievements as a Triton, including making the WWPA All Academic team, scoring 27 goals, 19 assists and 13 steals in his last full season. Prior to his move to UCSD, Coach Karlo led Long Beach City College's team with 51 appearances, 93 goals, 30 assists and 55 steals en route to two South Coast Conference championships and Conference MVP honors. |
