TPHS Falcons played a hard series at La Jolla's Coggan Aquatics Center September 21-22, notching 2 wins and 3 losses. In the Friday afternoon and evening matches, TP suffered a 6-10 defeat at the hands of 2017 CIF Open runner up La Jolla, before dispatching travelers Auburn Riverside (WA) 14-2. On Friday, Torrey followed up with a solid win against Temescal Canyon 17-11, before a heartbreaking overtime 6-7 loss to San Pasqual and a hard-fought 9-12 loss to league rival Carlsbad, in which the Falcons battled back from a substantial deficit from the first quarter.
Coach Williams commented after the weekend, "We played in a very competitive tournament for the reason of facing tough competition throughout. We had very respectable showings against some of the county's best programs in La Jolla and Carlsbad and turned some heads." The Falcons will be back in the pool for home matches against University City on September 25 and Steele Canyon on September 27. Comments are closed.
