 Varsity breakaway against LCC  JV offense setting up for a shot This year's varsity lineup includes a good number of seniors who have been playing together since their freshman year. Their experience together was apparent Wednesday night against La Costa Canyon. The Falcons were unstoppable against the Mavericks, and beat them readily with a final score of 18-2. Torrey's defense looked solid, and the team converted their defensive plays into quick and effective counter attacks. The hole set position held strong as a reliable scoring position, and Falcons fed the ball to hole consistently and well.
The Falcon JV squad also faced LCC Wednesday night in their first game of the season. The JV teams were well matched against each other, and both teams had plenty of shooting opportunities. Goals stacked for either team evenly. Tension rose in the end of the match when LCC scored to go up by one goal with under 50 seconds to go. Torrey, trailing by one point, THEN scored from hole set, made a quick steal, and drew a foul at the five meter, giving the Falcons a penalty shot.
