Alex Williams, our 2018 season head coach, is entering his sixth year of coaching Falcon water polo. He has been the head coach for the TPHS girls' program since 2014, and assistant coached for the boys program in 2013, 2014, and 2017. Coach Williams first started coaching in 2009, as an assistant to the women’s club team at his alma mater, the University of Arizona. He became their head coach in 2010. Since 2016 he has also been a coach for the San Diego Shores Water Polo Club, girls 18U program. He most recently guided the Shores girls 18U “B” team to a silver medal in the gold division at the 2017 USA Water Polo Junior Olympics.
Prior to his coaching career, Williams played four years of water polo at Torrey Pines High School, a member of the 2004 and 2005 CIF Division I runner-up teams. He played club polo at the University of Arizona, and served as President of the club from 2009 -2010. He was named to the Collegiate Water Polo Association Southwest Conference 1st team in 2009 and 2010. He was also an honorable mention for the 2009 CWPA national team. He earned bachelor’s degrees in Marketing and Accounting from the U of A in 2011.
